It is a little known fact that there is a large population of feral Peafowl (Pavo cristatus, native to the Indian sub-continent) in Louisiana, USA - particularly around the small town of Bon Temps. Unlike other Peafowl which are strictly diurnal creatures these Peacocks are primarily nocturnal and the male Lousiana Peacock is known to produce its haunting call when shifters are in danger from Meanads.
