Relative Queues of Time

You turn up on time for your Doctor appointment and wait for half-an-hour, an hour or more before you actually get to see the Doctor. You turn up late for your appointment and "oh dear" maybe the Doctor can't see you at all because you didn't wait in the correct order. (NB - not my experience - I'm just an interested observer of human behaviour.)
